■　絵を描き始めたのはいつ頃からですか？

5歳の頃からペインティングしたり、ドローイングをしてた。最初にインスパイアされたのは、
叔父のGaryと僕の母。二人ともアーティスティックだった。必ず色々なメディウムを使う。
ドローイング、パインティング、彫刻、洋服、家具、おもちゃ、プリントなど．．．

■　Please introduce yourself.

I have been painting and drawing since I was 5. My first inspira tion was my uncle Gary and my mom, who were both artistic. I use mixed media ALWAYS. Draw, paint, sculpt, clothes, furniture, toys, prints, etc…

■　あなたはグラフィックを製作する時、ラフスケッチをしてからコンピューターに向かうんですか？
それともコンピューター上ですべてデザインしていくんですか？

コンセプト、スケッチ、最終仕上げだね。

■　When do you know an artwork is completed?

When you’re making graphics, do you do a rough sketch first and then head to the computer? Or do you design everything on your computer?

■　1つの作品を製作していく中で完成の見極めは？

他にやることが見つからない時だね。

■　日本だと愛国心などが薄れてきているなどと言われていますが、
あなたは自分の生まれた国や血筋に誇りを持っていますか？

■　It’s said that in Japan, nationalism is fading. Do you have pride in the country that you were born and in your heritage?

Yes, I have a lot of pride in the Country of my birth and also for NYC States of America, where I was raised.

■　あなたがこの街で一番好きなスポットを教えてください。

好きな場所はたくさんあるよ．．．Russian Bathhouse, Jane Street Hotel, Rose Bar(Gramercy Hotel), コーニーアイランド, ブライトンビーチ, Peter Lugers, B&H, Yonah Schimmel, Lucky Strikes, Balthazar, Katz, Seki, Basta Pasta, セントラルパーク, ローアーイーストサイド, ウェストビレッジ, Noho, Soho, Wholefoods, ワシントンスクエアパーク,…街全部だね。ずっと同じ所に住んでいるとお気に入りの場所や
行きつけの場所はたくさん出来るよ。

■　What is your favorite spot in your city?

I have lots of favorite spots….Russian Bathhouse, Jane Street Hotel, Rose Bar(Gramercy Hotel), Coney Island, Brighton Beach, Peter Lugers, B&H, Yonah Schimmel, Lucky Strikes, Balthazar, Katz, Seki, Basta Pasta, Central Park, LES, West Village, Noho, Soho, Wholefoods, Washington Square Park,…All City. When you spend your life in a place there are many favorites and regular spots.

■　仕事が終わったらどんな事をして過ごしていますか？

仕事の後は、また自分のアートや絵に取り掛かったり、息子の子育てをしている。
いい親になろうと心がけているよ。

■　What do you do after work?

After work, I work again on my art, paintings, raising my sun, being a good parent.

■　オフの日はどんな友達とどんな事をして遊んでいますか？

友人や同僚がやる特別なイベント以外はほとんど夜遊びはしないね。

■　What kind of things do you do with friends on your day off?

I rarely go out unless its a special event for my friends or contemporaries.

■　今後の展開や展望などがあれば教えてください。

今取り掛かっているものをいくつか上げると、Swatch時計、Converseスニーカー、
DC５エディションスニーカー、新しいBe@rBrickプロジェクト、Kidrobot、Kangolなど。

■　Any future projects or anything to look out from you in the future?

I’m working on a Swatch watch, a Converse sneaker, DC 5th edition snea kers, a new BearBrick project, Kidrobot, Kangol just to mention a few…

■　なぜT-SHIRTを作り始めたんですか？

Tシャツを作り始めたのは、自分のアートを表現する方法でもあり、
もっと多くのオーディエンスが自分のアートを入手しやすいように。

■　Why did you start making T-shirts?

I started making tees as a way to express my art and make it more rea chable by a bigger audience.

■　不況まっただ中のNYで、あなたはお店をオープンさせましたが、
この時期に出したってことは何か深い意味があると思うんですが、
どんなコンセプトでオープンさせたんですか？

この不況にショップをオープンしたのは、この状況の中でも自分のメッセージをオーディエンスに届けたいから。
僕は不況にも慣れているし。本当の「hood」でシングルマザーに育てられ、小さい頃から生活は質素だったからね。

■　You opened a shop in New York during this recession. I’m sure there’s some reason for that. What was the concept for opening your shop?

I opened a shop in a recession because I still need to get my message to my audience. I’m used to recessions. I was raised in a modest lifestyle with a single parent raising me in the real “hood”.

■　あなたが尊敬している人物を教えてください

立派な息子を育て上げる母親たちは尊敬するね。

■　Who is the person you respect the most?

I respect mothers for raising good sons.

■　不満に思っている事をどうぞ。

この世の中の不公平さと止まない暴力や戦争に怒っているね。

■　Any thing you’re mad about or dissatisfied with?

I’m mad at the injustices and constant violence in the world…
