□　Are there many people who are willing to pay more than necessary for fixed parts in San Francisco or anywhere in America?

Ebay and yahoo auctions have made more vintage parts available to you where ever you live. Sometimes you can find a deal, and sometimes things sell for way more then there worth, but if someone wants it bad enough, they are willing to pay the price. San francisco has all types of bikes, and all types of riders. People who collect vintage, and people who don't give a fuck about the name brand on there bike, but can thrash on it as hard as .

■　日本のようにレアパーツにお金をかけてピストを組む人ってサンフランシスコやアメリカにいますか？

イーベイやヤフー・オークションでビンテージ物を買う人は多くなってきてるよ。たまに普通の価格よりも上回る時もあるけど、本当に欲しいものであれば高額であっても買う人はアメリカにもいる。サンフランシスコには色んなタイプのバイクがあり、ライダーたちがいる。ビンテージものにこだわる人や、ブランドなんてどうでもいい人、そんな人がいっぱいいるよ。

□　Please tell us which part of fixed you recommend.

There is an old race car phrase "Run what you brung" meaning, ride what you got, its more important to be a crafted rider then to have a crafted bike. Every rider has a different opinion of what they want in a bike. Andy has been on the same samson he got from e-frame bank 4 years ago for 250$. He has given that frame a great second life. Bianchi pista concepts are popular because they are affordable, light, and strong. About 550$ for a frame, fork, and headset. Sugino 75 cranks never break, we love phil wood hubs, they are from the san francisco area, and have been doing it for like 25 years. A lot or riders use vittoria rubino pro tires on the front and vittoria raundoneer tires on the back. They last a long time, and are smooth in all types of weather. Everyone rides a different seat, everyone uses different types of bars. Risers, bullhorns, drops.

レースカーには古い言葉があって、「持ってきたものを乗れ」今持っているものを乗りこなせという意味。肝心なのはバイクそのものではなく、自分のスキルを磨くことだよ。もちろんそれぞれ好みのバイクはあると思うけど、知り合いのアンディーの場合250ドルで購入したSamsonを4年乗り続けている。そのバイクに第2の人生を与えてあげたんだ。ビアンキ・ピスタは軽くて強い、そして何よりも値段が安い。550ドルでフレーム、フォークとヘッドセットが買える。Sugino75 cranksは絶対壊れないし、Phil Woodのハブは大人気だよ。Phil Woodはサンフランシスコからで25年も続いているんだ。他にもVittoria Rubino Proのタイヤを前に後ろにVittoria Raundoneerのタイヤをつけるライダーたちも多いよ。そうすると長持ちするし、どんな天気でもスムーズに乗れる。そしてそれぞれ好みのシートやバーを使う。ライザーバーやブルホーンやドロップだね

□　Please tell us about San Francisco from mash's perspective.

We all love sf, that's why we live here. You can truly be yourself here, no matter what the end result is. The bay area is a really diverse landscape housing a diverse group of people.

■　MASHにとってサンフランシスコという街は？

みんなサンフランシスコが大好きだからここに住んでいるんだ。ここでは結果はどうであれ素の自分でいられる。そして海岸の方に近づくと、色々な景観が見られるし、色々な人が住んでいる。サンフランシスコは本当に素敵な街だよ。

□　How long did the project overall take you? If you can, please tell us the process of the filming.

We have been taping for 3 years. About 250 hours of tape all cut down to a 1 hour video, and an hour of bonus features. It took some inovation to develop filming techniques that bring the viewer along for the ride. we had to take the same risks to record these moments on tape, and I think it will take a little time for someone else to match the craft and riding abilility showcased in this video.

■　今回のドキュメンタリーフィルムのプロジェクトはどれくらい掛かりました？もしできたら撮影のプロセスを教えて下さい。

約3年掛かったよ。合計250時間の撮影を、長さ1時間に編集し最後にボーナス特典を1時間。見ている人たちを惹きつけるような撮影テクニックを身に付けるためには時間が掛かったよ。ライダーたちを追うために、危険な目にも遭ったからこそこのような最高なビデオができたんだと思う。他の人がこのようなビデオを撮影するにはもっと時間が掛かると思うよ。

□　Finally, release dates for the film?

Also look for the dvd this summer. We hope july!

■　最後にＤＶＤの販売日はいつ頃ですか？

ＤＶＤの発売は今年の夏、7月あたりになるかな？

■　ワールドプレミアまで9日ですが今、どんな気持ちですか？

ライダーたちやサンフランシスコにいる人たちとお祝いするのがすごく楽しみだよ。実はつい最近友達がバイクに乗っているところを撮影したんだ。別にたいしたプロジェクトでもないけど、僕たちは色々なライダーや乗り方をみていきたい。ライダーを尊敬しているからこそ、これからも世界中のライダーたちを追い続けたい。MASHのメンバーたちとこうやって最高の瞬間を共にできることが本当に嬉しいよ。
